Operation Take Back the Summer: The Honest Recap
I keep doing this thing every single year. The second August hits, I skip right past whatever season I'm actually in and start mentally planning the next one — fall routines, fall goals, the whole thing. This year I caught myself doing it again, and I decided to stop for a second first.
Because back in May, I told you guys I was doing "Operation Take Back the Summer." And now that the season is basically behind us, I owed it to myself — and to you — to actually sit with how it went. Not the highlight-reel version. The real one.
What "Taking It Back" Actually Meant
When I started this whole thing, I had a list of what I wanted more of this summer, and honestly, some of it surprised me. It wasn't about doing less or doing more — it was about proving something to myself. In this episode, I walk through exactly what that looked like, and where I landed on whether it actually worked.
The Wins I Didn't See Coming
There were a few things I nailed this summer that I genuinely didn't expect to nail — and a couple of them had nothing to do with the beach or the gym. I get specific in the episode about what shifted for me with money, with movement, and with the people I love most, including one afternoon with a friend that I'm still thinking about.
The Parts I'd Do Differently
I'm not going to sit here and tell you Operation Take Back the Summer was flawless, because it wasn't. There's a version of "too much of a good thing" that snuck up on me by August, and I'm sharing exactly where that happened — and honestly, most of it traces back to one specific habit I need to break.
What's Coming With Me Into Fall
This isn't a "summer's over, back to reality" kind of episode. I talk through what I'm actually keeping from these last few months, and the verse that's been grounding the whole reflection for me — one that's less about calendars and more about how I want to move through every season from here on out.
If you've been rushing toward fall without stopping to notice the summer you just lived, this episode is for you.
